January 12, Saturday: SJ Municiapl Rose Garden Pruning Demonstration, 9:00 A.M.

Location: San Jose Municipal Rose Garden at Naglee and Dana Avenues.
The SCCRS will present a free public rose pruning demonstration at the San Jose Municipal Rose Garden at Naglee and Dana Avenues (map). The pruning demonstration is in conjunction with the Friends of the San Jose Rose Garden (www.friendssjrosegarden.org). Free literature and advice on rose care and pruning will be available.

February 8, Friday: SCCRS General Meeting, 7:30 P.M.

Location: O'Connor Medical Office Bldg., map
Program: Water, Fertilizer, Spray, and Soil

Want to learn more about water, fertilizer, spray, and soil for your roses. Blue Ribbon winners from our society will make up a panel with an open discussion. The panel will reveal their secrets about successful garden techniques. They even plan on showing you their favorite garden tools. ARS judge and award winner, Cynthia Chuang, will moderate our lively panel. The panel will include best of show winner Betty Ruth Hogue, and nurse Lenora Boeddiker. Society fertilizer will be sold for the last time as Bob is "retiring" from the fertilizer business.

Program: Propagating Roses by Cuttings

Would you like to create more bushes of a particular rose in your garden? Dave Bang will show us his special way to root roses. Although Dave joined the SCCRS only four months ago, he has sucessfully created over 70 bushes of Sheila's Perfume, alone! Join us for a virtual walk through his beautiful garden and view his outstanding slides.

April 11, Friday: SCCRS General Meeting, 7:30 P.M.

Location: O'Connor Medical Office Bldg., map
Program: How to Enter Roses in the Spring Show

Horticultural Rose Judge, Consulting Rosarian, and Rose Arrangement Judge Barbara Gordon will discuss the the tips and tricks for entering roses in a show. She will also make an arrangement of roses for a member to take home. You don't need to be an experienced exhibitor to enjoy this meeting; join us and be inspired by the process of showing roses! Anyone can do it, see how you can make your roses look their best.

April 26, Saturday: Spring in Guadalupe Gardens

Location: San Jose Heritage Rose Garden, Spring & Taylor Streets, San Jose. This garden event, sponsored by the Guadalupe River Parks and Gardens, will contain booths about gardening, sustainable energy, and is right across the street from the Heritage Rose Garden. Hours: 10 AM - 3 PM. Click here for further details.

April 27, Sunday: Annual Rose Show

Location: Cupertino Square (formerly Vallco Fashion Park)
The SCCRS's annual rose show will be open to the public from 1-4 PM on Sunday only. See the rose show page for further information.

Locations: Four Gardens in San Jose

December 12, Friday: Annual Holiday Potluck and Installation Dinner, 7:00 P.M.

Location: O'Connor Medical Office Bldg., map
Join us for our Annual SCCRS Holiday Party. We will begin eating at 7:00 PM SHARP. You will find good food, rose friends, and lots of items to bid on at the silent auction. Barbara Gordon will be playing holiday songs on the piano while we eat. Please bring your favorite dishes for the pot luck. As a guide, please bring a dish according to your last name: A-G main dishes, H-M desserts, and N-Z salads. Bring your own table service. Tea and hot cocoa will be provided. Check your closets and garage for items for the silent auction. Garden gifts, holiday items, baked goods, etc. are always welcome. Remember to place the starting bid on your auction item with a sticky paper. We look forward to seeing you for a fun filled evening.
